Flying Tiger
After three months of development, Flying Tiger has become a personal reflection on love, loss, and embracing cycles of change in the outdoors. I’ve always felt an inherent connection between femininity and nature—both delicate and fierce, nurturing and wild. Nature, like femininity, is a space where vulnerability is not only welcomed but celebrated, where raw emotion is allowed to unfold without restraint. Through this process, I’ve come to understand that true strength is found in stillness: in sitting with the messiness of my emotions without rushing to resolve them.
I titled this series Flying Tiger in honor of two people who have had a profound impact on my life. The title itself is credited to my ex-boyfriend, who granted me this bizarre yet memorable nickname in a birthday card. A few weeks after we broke up, I came across this nickname scribbled at the top of a page in an old notebook. When my dear friend and roommate, Alexandra Ingram, wrote a poem inspired by the images in this project, I asked her to copy it onto that same page from my notebook. Her poem is included above.
This project would have felt incomplete without including a small piece of the two deepest loves I’ve had so far—two people I will forever be grateful for. I hope to continue honoring this love as best I can in future creations.
